Chinese old school calendar inspired zine with Cantonese proverbs

We narrowed down our “calendar” to include 12 proverbs, one for every month—doing our best to match the context of the proverb to holidays or the seasonal vibe of each month.

The printing was very straightforward, and we learned that printing either the lighter color or darker color first did not make much of a difference in our case.

As the order didn’t matter, I separated out the files into our 3 colors: blue, green, and red, then printed them according to whichever color we had loaded into the risograph printer. Every print had a combination of either 2 colors.

We were able to make 4 books at the end, with all the extra copies we made just in case.

Jane looked up a tutorial on Japanese book-binding, and did this incredible binding with red embroidery thread on our calendar zines.
